President's Message
While traveling throughout North America the last few weeks I V V have been impressed with the feeling that the stone industry is alive and well. Ok, sure, I know the economy is still bad and our businesses are a mere shadow of what they used to be, but just hear me out on this one. Stone is in!
Think about this, what purchases are you making today? Are they inexpensive with a short life expectancy or are they valuable products with a proven track record of permanence and reliability. I believe the latter is true for the majority of us wanting to get the most bang for our buck!
Don't get me wrong, owners, designers, contractors, masons are still interested in the price but they are even more interested in the product itself, its look, feel and integrity. They are interested in working with a great supplier who delivers what they promise - on time, every time. They are interested in the stone buying experience, its ease and the education and satisfaction they get from using it. They are interested in value!
The BSI is working tirelessly to support its members and the industry at large in providing knowledge and expertise to the architectural and landscape design community. We are casting a vision for our members and industry on how the BSI will lead in the years to come. We are working to improve our portals of communication so that we can more quickly serve the industry. We are working and supporting our members, enabling them to grow their businesses. We are affecting the building industry by inventing new ways to serve. We are the Building Stone Institute!
Sincerely
Duffe Elkins
